Aus Zoo028

Only 2 weeks away - Australia Zoo Experience Photography Workshop - Sunday 11 November 2012

***

Come and join Michael and Mark for a fantastic day of wildlife photography at the incredible Australia Zoo at Beerwah.

It's only a couple of weeks away so get in quick and book now!

Our day starts at 9:00am where we meet inside Australia Zoo. Once everyone has arrived, we will board the next "train" to Africa. During the train trip we will assess each participant’s skill levels, talk about equipment needed during the day, as well as a run-down of the day’s itinerary.
When we arrive in Africa, we will present a brief session on the best wildlife photography techniques, which will include specifics that are relevant to photographing animals in captive situations. After the briefing, the giraffes, rhinos and zebras are all fair game for your lenses.
A quick morning tea (on the run) and the we are off to the Asia to photograph tigers, Asian elephants and gorgeous red pandas. Lunch is a treat where we will visit the eatery above the Crocoseum where you can view the Wildlife Warriors show.
After lunch the cute otters are due to be fed and will be sure to put on a show. Australia Zoo’s famous crocodiles are next , followed by Tasmania devils, dingoes, koalas, cassowaries and much more. Mark and Michael will be on hand throughout to talk to you one-on-one, and make sure you are utilising your camera to its potential. There is no planned afternoon tea break but there will be time to grab a drink along the way.
We also venture to ‘Roo Haven’ where there are different species of kangaroos and wallabies to photograph at close range. There are also echidnas nearby, which always make for great photos. To finish off the day, we will spend time in the huge walk-through bird aviary, where there are many varieties of birds to photograph.
At the end of the last session in the walk-through bird aviary, we will do a wrap-up of the day and Michael and Mark will answer any questions or help with any niggling problems you may be having with your photography. We finish off around 4:30pm. (During the day, there will be ample opportunity for you to talk to Michael and Mark and ask any questions you may have in regards to wildlife photography or photography in general).
For more information call Mark on 0459 221678 or Michael on 0408 941 965.

Norfolk Island Experience - Spots still available

Norfolk Island Experience 29 October - 3 November 2012

We still have spaces available for the 2012 Norfolk Island Experience Photography Workshop and Tour.

Some of the topics covered include:

Landscape
Birds
Macro
Sunrise/sunsets
Convict ruins etc
Composition
Lighting (natural/flash/reflectors etc)
Exposure and metering techniques
Filters
Streamlining your digital workflow and image post-processing techniques
Image critique

Here is a run down of what to expect:

Sat 27/10: At approximately 3:30pm, meet your professional tutors, Michael Snedic and Mark Rayner, as well as other photography workshop participants. You will be given a rundown of the week’s program and participant’s skill levels will be assessed. We will head straight to Kingston for some photography tuition “in-the-field”, where you will have the opportunity to photography some of the convict ruins including old lighters, stone buildings and much more. In the evening, join Michael and Mark for our Welcome Dinner.
Sun 28/10: We will be up bright and early for sunrise and seascape photography, down at Point Hunter (near Emily Bay). After breakfast, we will head back to the old government buildings, where we will photograph some of the amazing architecture of years gone by. After lunch, there will be a half day familiarisation bus tour of the island. This will give you an idea of what type of photography opportunities to expect at Norfolk Island during the coming week as well as giving you photo opportunities along the way.
***
Mon 29/10: After breakfast, we will drive to St Barnabas Church, a lovely old stone church with stunning stained glass windows. A very popular building to photograph and a good time to practice some HDR merge techniques (merging different exposures in order to create evenly-exposed photos). For lunch, join and Mark and Michael for a picnic at beautiful Emily Bay. Free time after lunch and then it’s off to Anson Bay for some seascape and sunset photography. Using the large, oval rock boulders as foreground features can make for some stunning sunset shots. In the evening (after dinner), Michael and Mark will review and critique some of your photos taken so far.
Tue 30/10: Here’s another chance to take some great seascapes at sunrise, photographing the waves as they crash over algae-covered rocks, with Mark and Michael. This time the location will be Cemetery Bay. After this session, it’s a free morning to explore Norfolk and photograph whatever you like, or alternatively, join one of Norfolk’s many tours. In the afternoon there is an informative session by Mark on streamlining your digital workflow and image post-processing. He will also show you how to give your photos that extra “lift”. In the evening, Mark will present an audio-visual on macro and landscape photography.
Wed 31/10: In the morning, there is free time or you may want to revisit and photograph some of your favourite subjects and places already covered in the workshop so far. After morning tea, Michael will present an audio-visual on wildlife photography. After lunch, we will visit 100 Acres, a wonderful, lush part of Norfolk filled with Norfolk Island Pines, indigenous plants and a great chance to photograph the stunning Red-tailed Tropicbirds (and other birds) as they fly past or hover over your heads. An experience not to be missed!! Later in the afternoon, you can join in on some mini-golf (included in package).
Thu 1/11: Here’s a chance to photograph some of the tiny subjects on the island. This morning session will have Michael show you the best techniques for macro photography. After lunch, head out for more landscape photography with Mark and Michael. In the late afternoon, we have our farewell dinner/barbeque, at Captain Cook’s Lookout, overlooking the stunning Pacific Ocean as the sun sets.
