Workshop News - March and Beyond

Upcoming Workshop News Update

On Valentines Day I announced the release of the '13 Day Yosemite - In the Footsteps of Ansel Adams' photography adventure with David Metcalf and myself. We've had many enquiries for this amazing photographic experience so please, if you are wanting to come along, hurry and book your spot. The workshop is limited to only 10 people!

Now, more big news. In case you've missed it, Africa is coming. Yes, next year in early May, Trekabout are taking you to Africa for an incredible photography adventure. Full details will be available soon but in the meantime, if you would like more information, please shoot us an email at admin@trekaboutphotography.comto express your interest.  Already the interest has been outstanding.

Even more big news! Whilst I'm busy here putting the finishing touches on the African adventure, Michael is down on Kangaroo Island putting together another magical Trekabout experience. Keep watching for final dates and details but expect somewhere in late September this year to visit Kangaroo Island. Sea-lion colonies, other-worldly landscapes and the odd kangaroo or two will only be part of what will be a photographers dream week. To register your interest and find out more email us at admin@trekaboutphotography.com

Coming up soon, we are only a week away from another amazing five day photography workshop  at O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat. There are still some spots available so if you can make it, you'll be treated to a workshop really does feature a bit of everything. You'll have the opportunity to learn advanced landscape photography techniques at the very picturesque 'Luke's Farm' and of course there will be other opportunities deep in the rainforest. You'll photograph the stunning Elabana Falls and the cascades at Moran's Creek.

We will also chase down some birdlife for you plus you'll be able to practice your 'in-flight' techniques as we take in the Birds of Prey display put on by Mark 'The Birdman' Culleton. Read more about the Five Day Mountain Experience below.

Now don't despair if you are short of time. We are also running a single day Mountain Experience  next Sunday before the five dayer kicks in. Check out the details below and give me a call to fast-track your booking if you decide to join us.

There is  lot more happening throughout March and beyond. Please take a look at all the details below.

There is a quick summary below.

Full Day Mountain Experience - with Mark Rayner and Michael Snedic

Sunday, 3 March 2013 -$249.00

During this full day workshop, Michael and Mark aim to give group presentations as well as one-on-one tuition for each participant. They will explain a variety of digital camera functions, teach you how to use these functions correctly and discuss different photographic techniques that will allow you to take better photos.
O’Reilly’s is home to some beautifully coloured birds, including Satin and Regent Bowerbirds, King Parrots, Eastern Yellow Robins and Crimson Rosellas, most of which are quite tame. In our first session, Michael and Mark will show you how to achieve great bird photos.
After morning tea, we go for a short stroll and learn techniques on rain-forest photography, including macro techniques, before heading to lunch.
The session reviewing photos after our day’s shoot is included in order to give each individual participant feedback on how they are progressing. This will include suggestions on any improvements that may be needed. This session is also aimed at helping to improve your digital work-flow and post-processing. Mark and Michael will show you how to bring the best out of your photos and will take place in O'Reilly's multi-media presentation room.
The last session covers landscape photography (during our winter months, we photograph the sunset) overlooking the stunning valley below. It is a great way to finish a rewarding day - one that has been full of learning new photographic techniques, lots of hands-on practice, in the company of like-minded people and in a beautiful natural setting.

_MPR7506
Central Station - Wanggoolba Creek
As the world’s largest sand island, with loads of diverse habitats and wildlife, Fraser Island is one of the most photogenic locations in Australia.
It really is a ‘photographer’s paradise’!
Our ‘Fraser Island Experience’ is fully-inclusive. Every aspect of this workshop is covered and no vehicle is required.
Even before arriving on Fraser Island you will enjoy a stunning drive along the beach from Noosa North Shore to Rainbow Beach.
You’ll take in the amazing Teewah coloured sands and Double Island Point along the way. Once on Fraser, though, the fun really begins!
_MPR7528
SS Maheno
For three glorious days, you will be driven to the best photographic opportunities that Michael and Mark have been able to include on their itinerary.
The island has rainforests, eucalyptus woodland, mangrove forests, wallum and peat swamps, sand dunes and coastal heaths.
Fraser Island attained World heritage status in 1992 and is now protected to ensure future generations will enjoy its many wonders.
The sandblows you’ll see and visit are formed by wind action. The huge sandblows actually move 1 to 2 metres per year and can grow to 255 metres in height.
All the hills on Fraser Island were formed from sandblows where vegetation eventually took hold. The dunes that form the sandblows are parabolic and create amazing shapes and patterns. We have a session planned at one of the enormous sandblows which will see your landscape passions unleashed. This place is simply stunning. Read more.....
